an online support group – join by phone or computer
Monday, March 12th
2-3:30pmET / 11am-12:30pmPT
This group is for yoga teachers, or any kind of teacher, working in vulnerable communities or with people who have trauma (i.e. incarcerated people, low income communities, addiction/recovery). This is a place to bring specific questions about your students or your teaching or to just listen to others working in similar situations. As part of my clinical training, I had to be engaged in weekly supervision to talk about clients and get reflections from a senior clinician. My intention is to offer this to teachers to work out issues that may be coming up in their classes. Even if you teach in a studio setting not specifically targeting trauma survivors, you are bound to have survivors in your class and issues may come up.
Some things that we can discuss are:
- Challenging clients and support around which interventions can be helpful
- Reflections on your own countertransference (what you might be bringing to your teaching)
- Trauma-informed principles as they apply to specific scenarios
- The role that systemic/institutionalized trauma plays in individuals
This group is limited to 10 people. The goal is for everyone to have a chance to speak and get reflection from Hala.
